Useful information on Woodstock and the surrounding area to help you enjoy your visit to Woodstock’s Own B&B accommodation

Woodstock provides an excellent base for visitors to explore Oxfordshire. Woodstock takes its name from the Town’s Stocks which can still be seen in Park Street today. The town provides an interesting mix of small shops and inns and hosts a regular Farmers’ Market (1st Saturday of the month) in its traditional Market Square. Alongside the Oxfordshire Museum and the Woodstock Wall hangings, displayed in the Town Hall, many visitors enjoy exploring Blenheim Palace.

Other local attractions include Rousham Hall, the ancient royal hunting forest at Wychwood, the ‘picture-postcard’ village of Great Tew and Standlake where 8 lakes are available for windsurfing, fishing, sailing etc. To find out more about things to do in West Oxfordshire, visit www.oxfordshirecotswolds.org. Batsford Arboretum is a short drive away, as are the Rollright Stones. Stratford and the Cotswolds make an enjoyable day trip for many visitors.

If you are looking for something a little different, why not try one of these: A balloon ride, taking off from Oxford with Oxford Balloons; Driving rally cars or 4x4 off-road vehicles on the Great Tew Estate with Vision Motorsport; or Flying or gliding in and out of Enstone Airfield. For details, contact Enstone Flying Club.
